What does Whaling mean?

Whaling is the hunting of whales. The Whale Wars refers to the war between Japanese and Americans. Japanese has a long history of killing whales. The year 2009 is to stop Japanese from killing these harmless sea creatures. This controversy has been made into a television series to expose this unnecessary act. The Television series is obviously called "Whale Wars" and it can be seen on Animal Planet on Fridays at 9PM. Do you know whaling dates back to 10,000 BC? Japanese use to use long swords or a wooden plug to place in the whale's blowhole to kill whales. Then technology gave the Japanese harpoon guns. Japanese use to eat whale meat during World War 2. According to Japanese people, they say it's their tradition to eat whale meat, so they cannot stop now. Why didn't they eat sharks? Sharks are more dangerous and I'm sure most people wouldn't mind if Japanese killed them. But whales are so innocent and they are ancient. What are whales used for? whale bone were used in womans dresses. whale oil were also used to light lamps. Thank God for petroleum , Whale oil is now being replaced. in 1984, Japanese had killed 3,908 whales for commercial harvest. In 1980's Reagan Administration had asked Japan to cooperate otherwise pay a fine. A moratorium ( a fine) was passed by the International Whaling Cimmission in 1982 but went in effect in 1986! This is proof that Japanese used whales before they thought about research. They used whales for their daily uses and look at the huge number of whales they have slaughtered! The Japanese cannot use whales as an excuse for "research" because there is evidence of whales being used for other necessities.  Just take a look at the picture above, how many innocent whales are killed and lined up. The Japanese people have no sympathy for whales. There is modern technology which replaces whale bones and oil. The Japanese need to take advantage of other natural resources and not an endangered species.
